Roofing Provides Rest
Erika lives in the community Las Pinuelas, which was highly affectedly a landslide which completely washed away her kitchen and destroyed her uncle’s home. Her aunt and two cousins passed away due to the flood.
Erika and her family are going to build a new house on higher ground, and use the inc panels received from CEPAD for the roof. “I could not be more thankful for my new roof. I feel we will be able to overcome this difficult situation.”
Erika is also part of the community development committee receiving training from CEPAD. “We appreciate all the teachings and trainings from CEPAD’s staff Pedro (regional manager). He is helping us organize our community because we are not well organized and often lack support. He is like an angel to us. Other organizations have visited our community but end up leaving because many of the community members do not want to get involved. But CEPAD has remained.”
“A lot of the people in our community are low-income families; some of them are single mothers that really need help. It’s our goal as a development committee to work for the better of our community and continue to reach. More and more people.”
Erika and her family also received a food packet, which provided basic food products enough to last a month. As Erika looks to build her new house and continue taking care of her children, she no longer has to worry for food and a roof over their heads.
