Center for Peace Gustavo Adolfo Parajón D.
On February 18, 2020, we were able to host the groundbreaking celebration of our Center for Peace Gustavo Adolfo Parajón D. Gustavo was CEPAD’s founder and led the organization for many years. This Center for Peace will become CEPAD’s new central offices in Managua, RadioCEPAD’s studio, and the accommodations for visiting groups. To learn more about the center and read about our capital campaign, see here.
We had many guests, both Nicaraguan and international; people visiting CEPAD for the first time and many who have been with us since the beginning. Pastor Marlon López, president of CEPAD’s Board of Directors, shared a short message around the passage of Isaiah 60:1-6 (NIV).
“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn. Lift up your eyes and look about you: all assemble and come to you; your sons come from afar, and your daughters are carried on the hip. Then you will look and be radiant, your heart will throb and swell with joy; the wealth on the seas will be brought to you, to you the riches of the nations will come. Herds of camels will cover your land, young camels of Midian and Ephah. And all from Sheba will come, bearing gold and incense and proclaiming the praise of the Lord.”
Pastor López shared about how all things are possible with God. Where we don’t see a way forward, He does. Where we didn’t know what the future would hold for CEPAD, God did. God used a lot of hardworking visionaries to make this new center for peace a reality for us. We wanted to celebrate how God has provided and share the vision with others.
We also heard from Jerry Aaker, who has been with CEPAD from the very beginning and was in Nicaragua working with Dr. Gustavo Parajón before CEPAD was an official organization. We were honored he came with his wife to celebrate with us.
Jo Buescher and Fred Buescher (widow and son of Bob Buescher, respectively, who founded CEPAD USA) shared the vision they have had with CEPAD’s new building for 10 years.
Joan Parajón, Dr. Gustavo Parajon’s widow, helped to lay the first stone at the ceremony. We are incredibly grateful she was able to join us and participate.
If you would like to watch the full ceremony, we have it recorded on our Facebook page, and you can find that here.
