Youth in Action
Angelica is part of the network of 141 youth leaders across Nicaragua in CEPAD’s Youth Leadership Program and has learned how to help those around her who may be going through a difficult time, such as losing a loved one.
The youth leaders contribute in their communities through working with other youth in education and preventing issues such as domestic violence, alcoholism, drug addition, teen pregnancy, and more.
Not only has Angelica learned how to identify those who are most vulnerable in her community and look out for indicative behaviors, but she has lost her fear or public speaking and has more self-confidence. Her personal growth isn’t the only thing she’s noticed.
Since CEPAD came to my community I’ve noticed that the agriculture production has increased, community leaders are more empowered, more people attend community meetings, local churches are growing, and our relationship with local authorities has improved. To God be the glory.
At just 18 years old, Angelica is already learning what makes a good leader, how to help those around her, and to be confident in herself and her strengths. We can’t wait to see how Angelica continues to grow and help her community!
