WE’RE HIRING! CEPAD Is Seeking A Communications Intern
After two years, our communications whiz Audrey White will be leaving the position. We’re seeking someone with strong writing skills and a passion for sustainable development in Central America for a one year commitment to CEPAD. The intern will be based in Nicaragua and receive a stipend of $5,000 per year (plus support to fundraise additional money).
CEPAD is a Nicaraguan NGO dedicated to providing sustainable solutions to farmers, families, women, youth and pastors in rural communities around the country. In 43 years, our work has adapted to the changing needs of Nicaraguan people and currently uses a 5-year accompaniment model. Read more about our programs here.
The position offers a truly transformative experience with opportunities to contribute to many areas of CEPAD’s work and build deep relationships with people all over Nicaragua. It’s a one of a kind opportunity for a young
person with strong English writing skills who is in Nicaragua looking for a great job or someone who is interested in coming and who wants to do some volunteer-type work outside of a formal volunteer organizational structure.

Position: Communications Intern for CEPAD
Position Description
The Communications Intern is a volunteer position based in Managua, Nicaragua designed to support CEPAD’s overall communications with delegations, national and international funding organizations and donors. This position will work closely with the Director of Development of CEPAD USA, the Director of the delegation program and the Executive Director of CEPAD.
Primary Responsibilities
• Assist in planning and writing articles for CEPAD’s newsletter, the CEPAD Report. Format and send e-newsletter
• Write and publish blog posts at least once a month
• Update social media sites (facebook and twitter) on a daily or weekly basis
• Update the CEPAD website as needed
• Assist Director of Development in finding compelling stories and for 3 yearly appeals
• Develop and maintain a media library with photos, videos, and stories that we and our supporters can use in fundraising and partnership materials
• Assist in documenting the impact of specific programs made possible by funders
• Visit CEPAD communities and gather stories and experiences
• Meet with delegations to help build their support for the organization and assist in follow-up
• Manage boilerplate documents — keep a file of general information about CEPAD’s programs current with updated numbers and descriptions. Translate content from Spanish to English as needed
• Design a calendar of activities for CEPAD for staff, communities and pastors
All content that is ready to be published online or in print must be first reviewed by the Director of Development of CEPAD USA.
Qualifications
• Experience and knowledge about social media platforms
• Ability to work independently in a self-directed environment, good organization skills, ability to prioritize and take direction
• Completed or working towards a college degree in a related field (English, Marketing/Communications, Public relations)
• Experience with WordPress or website design a plus
• Must be comfortable working on a computer with experience in word processing, power point and Excel. Experience in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop a plus
• Fluent in Spanish and English
• Comfortable working in a foreign country, experience living abroad a plus

Compensation: $5,000 stipend per year (there is always the option to do personal fundraising as well as find alternative sources of income in Nicaragua)
