Giselle Reyes’ younger brother is having trouble at school.
Her fear is that he will turn to drugs and alcohol, just like many of his peers in their small village of La Ceiba.
At just 15 years old, Giselle has volunteered to try to change this desperate situation faced by many youth.
But she can’t do it alone. Will you help CEPAD help Giselle by donating today? (Donate NOW!)
Your generosity will fund trainings on self-esteem, mental health and violence prevention, topics that are key to her success as a leader in her village. These trainings are only $38 per youth volunteer.
Giselle is one of three Peaceful Community Mentors in her village of La Ceiba.
Her hope and CEPAD’s goal is that these trainings will help both her family, and her village.
The youth of Giselle’s community of La Ceiba live and struggle with hopelessness and despair that comes from living in poverty. Nicaragua is the second-poorest country in the Western Hemisphere with 41% of the population living on less than $1 per day. Three out of every four persons (75.8%) live on less than $2 per day.
With few jobs and almost and no recreational activities, many youth turn to drugs and alcohol as an escape.
Giselle and the other young leaders have already set their goals. Will you help them achieve their dreams?
Today, you can be a hero and build a whole new future for the youth of La Ceiba by making an investment in their future. Please join the many others who are supporting these leaders by making a contribution today. No gift is too small.
Thank you for considering a gift. We are so grateful for your support.
