Coritza in her new garden.

Producing Dreams

“Being able to produce vegetables was a dream of mine, but every time I tried in the past, it fell apart. With the techniques that CEPAD has taught me, this dream has become a reality.”

Coritza shares about the struggles she’s faced in growing the vegetables she had always dreamed of.

“So many people here grow basic grains, so when I said I was going to grow vegetables, others laughed at me. Our soil wasn’t fertile, but using the new techniques we learned, many are now asking me to teach them how I managed to grow vegetables.”

Even with the negative comments and people not believing in her, Coritza proved them wrong. She shows no ill will to those who laughed at her, but has become and environmental advocate, sharing what she’s learned with everyone she can and encouraging others in her community to only use natural farming techniques.

“With CEPAD, I’ve learned lots of different things. It’s not just about farming whatever we can get out of the earth, but recognizing that our land also needs our help. Now, we use organic compost, fertilizers, and insecticides that aren’t harmful for the soil or my health. For that reason, I thank CEPAD and their donors. The Lord will repay you for all of the work you do for the wellbeing of so many families. May the Lord greatly bless you, and may you continue supporting many more families.”

We have full faith that Coritza’s garden, self-confidence, and community will continue to grow. To provide other women with the same opportunity, you can partner with us here.
