Coronavirus and CEPAD: The Effects on Our Ministry
COVID-19, everyone is talking about it, the pandemic that’s taking the world by storm. Countries on shut-down: schools closed, church services streaming, and everyone quarantined in their homes as much as possible.
We know that Coronavirus will have major effects on our world, and here at CEPAD, we are already feeling the impact.
After being hopeful about 2020 and starting to rebuild after the Nicaraguan socio-political crisis of 2018, it feels as though we have taken another big step back.
- We’ve had to postpone visiting groups yet again due to travel concerns.
- Many of our supporting churches are currently unable to meet together physically, and our Presbyterian Mission Co-Workers are unable to meet with them as planned to talk about CEPAD’s work and invite them to give.
- Though Nicaragua currently has no confirmed cases, there are still many precautions being taken to prevent us from having/transmitting the virus. We worry how this will affect the workshops we have scheduled for this year.
- We worry about the work of the communities we work with. If they are unable to travel in order to sell their produce, how will they provide for their families?
- How will we be able to continue our ministry if Nicaragua is also put on government-mandated quarantines?
There are so many unknowns ahead of us, but we are hoping that our friends around the world will be able to help us in this uncertain time. Here are a few ways you can get involved:
- Pray for the ministry of CEPAD and the health of Nicaragua and our staff across the country.
- Give so we are able to meet our financial needs.
- Share about CEPAD with your friends via social media as many continue to get their updates via these platforms. Share about why you support and how you are impacting Nicaragua to encourage others to do the same!
We know the whole world is walking through the unknown and we keep our international friends in our thoughts and prayers. We hope you are all safe and healthy!
