Gardening Goodness
Gema, a young wife and mother, struggled to make ends meet and feed her family. Everything changed when she joined CEPAD’s Family Gardening Program and had access to new fruits and vegetables.
“Before joining the program, we only planted and harvested basic grains using chemical products. We didn’t know how to plant, let alone harvest, vegetables. It was seen as something impossible.
“I’ve learned how to establish my family garden, manage fruits and vegetables, seed production, making organic compost, crops diversification, soil and water conservation, nutritional factors of fruits and vegetables, and preparing nutritional food.”
Gema is so excited about her new garden, and her joy is contagious. Now others want to know how she did it.
“In my community, the soil isn’t great quality, but with the new techniques we’re learning, we’ve been surprised at what we can grow. Many others have asked me how I grow my garden and if I can teach them how to make composts and insecticides naturally.”
We can’t wait to see Gema’s garden grow over the years and hear about all the people she is teaching. None of this would be possible without supporters like you. Thank YOU.
