CEPAD History – Child Welfare

We want to share some history of CEPAD’s programs. Because CEPAD shifted from emergency relief work to community development, some of our programs have changed. Check out our current programs and give to impact Nicaragua communities.

Our child welfare program began after the earthquake of 1972. CEPAD partnered with and supported feeding centers and orphanages in both urban and rural communities to provide meals and education for children in need. These centers also provided programs for children and adults to learn how to read to increase the very low literacy rate. In the years 1989-1990, CEPAD supported 70 centers.
